A song contest in French on Instagram

In partnership with Campus France and TV5 Monde, Alliance Française and Institut Français branches, a song contest – #SingInFrench – has launched on Instagram. Five young and talented singers will win an invitation to France and Belgium to experience an unforgettable musical adventure.

All people aged 18-year old onwards from all over the world are invited to spotlight their creativity in French on Instagram using the hashtags #ChanteEnFrançais, #SingInFrench, #CantaEnFrancés or #غن_بالفرنسية .

How to take part

1. Record a video that shows you singing in French
2. Share it as a Reel on Instagram using one of the hashtags: #ChanteEnFrançais, #SingInFrench, #CantaEnFrancés or #غن_بالفرنسية
3. Follow and tag the @francophonie.24 account on Instagram
4. Improve your chance of winning by filling in and submitting a form that will be available on this page from 15 April
5. Feel free to share your Reels widely with your friends!

Song choice

The song you choose is totally up to you, but you must sing it for at least 45 seconds. Let your creativity run wild!

• Sing karaoke style, with an instrument, or a cappella
• Share one of your compositions in French
• Sing an existing French song, a song in another language translated into French, or an original song that you have written yourself in French!

Exceptional prizes

Five singers will win their spot in an artist residency from 16 to 21 July 2024 at the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, then be invited to perform on stage at the Francofolies de Spa festival in Belgium.

Watch the Olympic Torch Relay pass through Villers-Cotterêts on 17 July and record a track in the studio at the Château.

The five talented winners will be exclusively invited on stage at the Francofolies de Spa festival to put on a special concert for French-language music fans.

Selection criteria

Eligibility

This contest is open to any natural person who:

• is at least 18 years old as of 15 May 2024;
• has internet access and resides in a country with regular air or rail links to France;
• holds a passport that will be valid for at least six months beyond 31 July 2024; and
• is available to take part in the artist residency programme set to take place from 16 to 21 July 2024.

The contest is not open to:

• “professional” candidates, i.e. people who have a full-time, paid occupation involving vocal performances;
• staff working for the Organizer or their family members, as well as anyone who took part in planning the contest; and
• staff working for the Operator, the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF) and its agencies, and their families.
