Recap of the artist residency for the winners of the Instagram #ChanteEnFrançais contest!

The five winners of the international #ChanteEnFrançais contest spent 16 to 21 July at the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française and the Francofolies in Spa as part of an artist residency. Here’s a recap of a very exciting week!

Summary

First stop: the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française in Villers-Cotterêts

From 16 to 18 July, the five winners of the international #ChanteEnFrançais contest went to the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française in Villers-Cotterêts for the first stage of their artist residency.

#Day1 – A warm welcome

And so the adventure begins for our five winners! They arrived at the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française and settled into their accommodations at the Maison des Artists before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner.

#Day2 – An exciting start to the residency

It was a jam-packed day for our lucky winners, who attended the relay of the Olympic torch, voice coaching sessions with the Belgian artist, Mentissa, the permanent exhibition at the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française and a temporary exhibition entitled “C’est une chanson qui nous ressemble”.

#Day3 – Headed to the recording studio

Our five winners inaugurated the Cité’s studio and recorded a song of their choosing – an incredible opportunity for these young talented artists.

On to the Francofolies in Spa!

After the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française, they headed to Belgium and the Francofolies in Spa! What was planned? A 30-minute showcase on stage at the Villa des Fleurs. Before a Belgian audience, Camilla Roveroni performed “Evidemment” by La Zarra; Mio Koseki got the crowd going with  “On ne change pas” by Céline Dion; Sorela Pambu gave an amazing performance of “Où s’en aller”, an original composition;  Asham chose to sing “Voilà” by Barbara Pravi; and lastly, Juliet ended the show with “Le Blues du businessman”, a popular song from Starmania.

During the festival, the winners also met the artist, Nuit Incolore, and contest jury members who also produced the Francofolies.

An experience full of shared emotions that they will not soon forget!
